The Communication Studies Website won a Silver 2014 Akron ADDY
The School of Communication Studies is an academic department within Kent State University. This website has over 50 pages with content about academic programs, recruitment information, news feeds, faculty/staff profiles and more. The HTML and CSS was handwritten using modern web standards and responsive web design.
MY ROLE IN THIS PROJECT
- Led team of designers and content developers through various project phases over 3 months
- Conducted user experience research sessions (2 rounds) using card sorting and usability testing with end-users
- Made design recommendations (especially surrounding breakpoints) and gave feedback based on university marketing standards
- Hand-wrote and integrated HTML/CSS into university's content management system
- Built custom templates for various content types
- Wrote media queries to enable responsive web design
- Led and conducted testing in various browsers and mobile devices
- Executed demos for various clients and participated in project's promotion
